Limewash
Limewash
Low-coverage mineral limewash, translucent and permeable, which allows the texture and variation of the substrate to be seen.
Transparency and movement
Limewash creates low-coverage mineral glazes, similar to a watercolour, that keep the texture of the substrate visible. Its air limewater base gives permeability, surface consolidation, water repellency and even colour across porous mineral materials.

One colour, different expressions of lime

The same colour. A different expression.
Limewash shares the Limecoat colour range. Its translucent finish allows the substrate, number of coats and application movement to shape the final perception of colour.
Where to use it.
The result depends on the substrate and its condition. Check the recommended system before application.
Gypsum plasterSuitable with conditions
Apply directly to continuous gypsum plaster that is sound, clean, dry and uniformly absorbent. Where repairs or differences in absorbency exist, apply Limeprimer first to even out the substrate.
PlasterboardSuitable with preparation
Apply Limeprimer across the full surface before the Limecoat finish to even out absorbency between boards, joints and filled areas.
Lime renderSuitable
Apply directly to lime render that is sound, clean, dry and uniformly absorbent. Where repairs or significant differences in absorbency exist, apply Limeprimer first.
Cement renderSuitable
Apply directly to cement render that is sound, clean, dry and correctly cured. If the substrate has uneven absorbency, apply Limeprimer first.
ConcreteSuitable
Apply directly to absorbent concrete that is sound, clean and free from release agents or other contaminants. For very dense surfaces or adhesion concerns, confirm the appropriate treatment first.
Existing paintSuitable with conditions
May be applied over existing paint where it is sound, well adhered, clean and compatible with the system. Damaged areas, repairs, uneven absorbency or uncertain substrates require prior preparation or consultation.
Application forms part of the finish
With Limewash, the tool and application movement have a particularly visible influence on the final result.

Select the colour, application, substrate and its condition to obtain the recommended system and the corresponding specification clause.
The substrate must be sound, clean, dry and correctly prepared. For damaged or contaminated substrates, or where adhesion is uncertain, enquire before specifying.
Seamless mineral coating: Formma Limecoat Limewash, colour Arena 30. Air lime wash with mineral pigments. Applied to an interior vertical surface to plasterboard, after applying Limeprimer across the full surface. Apply Limeprimer to the full surface first. Limewash Pigment and Limewash Base mixed at a ratio of 1:10. Applied by flat brush for a matt, translucent finish. Includes substrate preparation and ancillary works.
